940 | Dallas Morning News, The (TX) - April 20, 2011 Deceased Name: Richard Goodall Dallas, TX, USA Goodall, Richard Ainsworth 58, passed away on April 17, 2011 after a battle with cancer. Services will be held April 21, 2011 at 11am at St. Mark's Cathedral in Shreveport, LA, USA. Dick was a native of Dallas, TX, USA and a resident of Shreveport, LA, USA for over 30 years. He made his career as a professional photographer and earned Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees from the Professional Photographers Association (PPA). He opened Goodall Studios in 1976 and after years of hard work, he opened Goodall Photographic Gallery in 2003, a place where he created his most memorable work. He has won numerous photographic competition awards and his images have been recognized in multiple national publications. He had a strong passion for teaching and spoke and judged at numerous conferences and conventions. He relished in his position as photography professor at LSU-Shreveport and thrived on being able to teach others the art of F-stops and shutter speeds. When he was not busy capturing those priceless moments in all of our lives, he could be found on his bicycle riding with his 5:50 cycling group. He loved those mornings where he was always in control of the sprint. And if his feet were not clipped into his pedals, he and Cam would be cruising on his Honda Goldwing through the back roads of the country. And if he wasn't flying through the streets, he was soaring through the clouds. He found great solace in his Cessna and loved taking photographs of the world below. He flew often to West Lakes to seek the beauty of the outdoors and to enjoy life in the slow lane. His talented hands could not only work the intricacies of a camera or the technical instruments of an airplane, but they could produce the most beautiful pieces of woodwork you have ever seen. He was truly an artist in every way. But his greatest love remained with his family. His wife, Cammie, was his best friend and his children were the joy of his life. His presence will be forever in our hearts. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Betty Goodall, of Dallas, TX, USA. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Camille Hargis Goodall; son, Benjamin Ainsworth Goodall; daughter, Jamie Goodall Surovik and husband, Eric Surovik; grandson, Claiborne Jackson Graves; granddaughter, Ainsley Elizabeth Surovik; sister, Diane Goodall Sealy, and her husband and 4 children, Scott Sealy, Amy Sealy, Lisa Sealy, Scott Sealy Jr, and Michael Sealy; brother, Michael Allen Goodall, and his wife and 2 daughters, Becky Goodall, Courtney Goodall Taylor and Leigh Goodall Mundinger. He is also survived by innumerable friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for research towards finding a cure for kidney cancer. As a family, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our family and friends for their undying love, support and prayers as we journeyed down this difficult road and as we rejoice in knowing that he is now at peace. 943 | Dallas Morning News, The (TX) - November 21, 2005 Deceased Name: ANNA RUTH 'PAT' WOOD Dedicated career to education of mentally disabled children Anna Ruth "Pat" Wood was an educator dedicated to helping children with mental disabilities help themselves. Mrs. Wood died of natural causes Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. She was 89. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northridge Presbyterian Church, 6920 Bob-O-Link Drive in Dallas. Mrs. Wood was born Anna Ruth Patterson on Feb. 10, 1916, in Eureka, Texas. She earned her bachelor's degree from North Texas Teachers College, now the University of North Texas. After receiving her degree, Mrs. Wood taught high school English and theater in Springtown in Parker County. She was introduced to a student's brother, J. Lee Wood, and they were married in 1938. Mr. Wood served in the military during World War II, and the couple moved as his service required. After the war, they lived in Fort Worth. They moved to Dallas in 1951. Paul Wood of Dallas, Mrs. Wood's son, said when his mother volunteered to help children to learn to read through a Baptist church program in Oak Cliff, she became involved with developmentally challenged children. That involvement would grow into a life's work. "That went to her very soul, " Mr. Wood said. "She simply felt a calling." Mrs. Wood went back to school and in 1959 earned a master's degree in special education. For 20 years, Mrs. Wood was director of Children Inc., a Dallas school that helped children with disabilities to assimilate and become independent. The students became "Miss Pat's kids." Mrs. Wood also was president of the Association for Retarded Citizens, now known as The Arc of the United States. The Arc is an advocacy group that helps people with mental disabilities find their places in public schools and the workplace. Dedication to special education earned her numerous awards, but Mr. Wood said that Mrs. Wood was a selfless person who identified a job that needed to be done and did it. "She didn't want to look away. They were just too important," Mr. Wood said. He said that as devoted as Mrs. Wood was to her special children, she never neglected her own family. He said that if she heard that one of her grandchildren didn't feel well, her stock answer was: "I'll be there in 15 minutes." After her retirement, Mrs. Wood volunteered at Northridge Presbyterian Church in Dallas, where she was a member since 1959. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, James P. 946 | Daniel Witherington Wiley December 12, 1936 - August 25, 2020 Resident of Pleasanton, CA Dan Wiley has always loved to travel and when he departed this earth on August 25th, 2020, he went on the crowning journey of all. A true Southern gentleman, Dan was born in Covington, Tennessee on December 12, 1936. He lived a Mayberry-like childhood in Munford, a small town near Memphis, then traveled 500 miles away to attend Maryville College, a historic,Christian college located in the foothills of the Smokies. Dan acquired a B.S. in Biology and a wife, Gray Clarke, during his four years there. Dan and Gray moved back to Memphis where he joined Schering Plough Pharmaceutical's (later Merck's) sales force. He was a natural in sales and served in many corporate positions in Memphis, Omaha, and Dallas, ending his career as a national director in Danville, CA. While in Memphis, three children came along: Linda Gray of Danville, CA.; Daniel Mark. M.D., reunited with his Dad now in heaven; and James Allen of Danville, CA, who with his wife Melanie Anne (Serres) has two sons - Daniel Marc and David James. Dan retired early so that he could really go to work doing the things he enjoyed. Within a week of retirement, Dan was working on a house for Habitat for Humanity. This project inspired him to use his sales skills to raise funds for and then join in the construction of homes after Hurricane Katrina. He did the same for a complete restoration of a large, dilapidated building into a hope-giving school in the center of San Francisco's Tenderloin. Then onto Mexico, where he worked on projects dedicated to transforming the lives of the rural poor. At his home church, Community Presbyterian Church in Danville, Dan served as Deacon, Elder and Clerk of Session. He also taught pre-K Sunday School with Gray, served on the Mission Committee, and on several building campaigns. Dan treasured his and Gray's Small group of 30+ years. Dan's passions were dedicated to any work which furthered God's Kingdom here on earth. Pleasure trips… international, national, and local were frequent as Dan's thirst for travel never dimmed. One trip did not end without a plan for the next. Dan was loving, kind, wise, smart, very funny, humble, patient and friendly. He loved to whistle (you could always tell where he was); he loved to tend his plants and flowers, he loved to play golf and loved all sports, he loved Gray, he loved to gather with friends and especially family. All of this grew out of his deep love of our Lord, Who loved him in return and abundantly blessed him and his. Memorials may be sent to Plant with Purpose (San Diego, CA) or Extollo International (Pleasanton, CA). Flowers may be sent to Munford Funeral Home. Dan will be buried in his hometown of Munford, Tennessee. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020 from 5-8pm at Munford Funeral Home. Private, family burial to follow at Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford, next to his son, Mark. | WILEY, Daniel Witherington (I7607)
