Deceased Name: COVINGTON - James Everette Simonton
COVINGTON - James Everette Simonton, 84, retired teacher and administrator for Tipton County Board of Education, died of heart failure Saturday at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis. Services will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Salem Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was a member and former elder, with burial in Salem Cemetery in Atoka. Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home has charge. He was a graduate of Erskine College in Due West, S.C., where he taught cadets, and received his master's degree from Peabody College. He began teaching in 1933 at Brighton High School. He was the girls basketball coach and also served as principal at Byars-Hall High School in Covington. He was former Title I Supervisor on the Tipton County Board of Education. Mr. Simonton, the husband of Agnes Strong Simonton, also leaves a daughter, Nancy Simonton Lindsey of Covington, and a granddaughter.
