They had nine children: Hugh James McKeown, Theodore Thompson McKeown, Addison Bingham McKeown, Mary Sue McKeown, Nancy A. E. McKeown, Martha Jane McKeown Boyd, Nancy Ann Elizabeth McKeown Simpson, Samuel Christopher McKeown and an infant daughter who was unnamed. The McKeown Family Cemetery is located one mile north of Cornwell, S. C. in McKeown, S. C. Take Highway 321 until you find Love Road. The cemetery is located on a dirt road off of Love Road. 2491 | Washington Post, The (DC) - January 27, 1981 Deceased Name: Gen. W. S. Biddle Dies, Decorated Combat Officer Retired Army Maj. Gen. William Shepard Biddle, 80, a staff officer and decorated combat veteran of World War II who has been a resident of Northern Virginia since 1956, died Saturday at the Woodbine nursing home in Alexandria. He had arteriosclerosis and Alzheimer's disease. During World War II, Gen. Biddle served in Great Britain and North Africa and later commanded the 113th Mechanized Cavalry Group when it landed in Normandy in June 1944. The unit later was attached to the Ninth Army and made contact with the Red Army near the Elbe River in April 1945. In 1947, Gen Biddle was assigned to Washington and became deputy chief of the plans ant policy group of the Army General Staff. His other post-war duty included assignments in Europe, Japan, and Korea, and as deputy commanding general of the Fifth Army. After retiring from active duty in 1960, he returned to Washington and joined Washington Consultants. In 1962, he began a four-year stint as commandant of cadets at the Pennsylvania Military College in Chester, Pa. He had lived in Alexandria since 1966 and was head riding instructor at the Rock Creek Stables in Washington from 1969 to 1972. He also was a member of the board of the Washington International Horse Show. Gen. Biddle was awarded 39 military decorations included two Distinguished Service Medals, the Silver Star Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star Medal. Gen. Biddle was born at Fort Wayne, Michigan while his father was stationed there. He was a 1923 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He served in the Panama Canal Zone and as an assistant military attache in London and Paris before World War II. His wife was the daughter of General John Walton Lang. Survivors include his wife, the former Madelin Lang of Alexandria; three daughters, Susan Dayton Biddle of Vail, Colo., Harmon Biddle of Washington, and Christina Biddle Maher of Denver; a sister, Margaret B. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.T. and Gunetta Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Norma Babb Smith, three children, Carol Smith Morgan and her husband Ben Morgan, Delaine Smith and Wayne L. Smith, Jr. and his wife Ali Novak Smith, six grandchildren, Daniel Morgan and his wife Laura Morgan, Lindsey Hewes and her husband Nate Hewes, Adam Morgan, Spencer Smith, Juliana Smith and Stephen Smith, two great-grandchildren, Jackson Hewes and James Morgan, a sister, Carolyn Parrish and her husband Ted Parrish and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith was a member of Bethel, Highland Heights and Faith Cumberland Presbyterian Churches before joining First Evangelical Church where he was a member for the last 35 years. In 1983, he founded Smith-Doyle Contractors, Inc. and was president until he retired in 2014. He had been employed by S & W Construction Company, Inc. for over 20 years rising to the position of President. His education includes a Bachelor and Masters of Science from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Mr. Smith formerly served on the Board of Directors of the West Tennessee Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Memphis Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Ministry to Men Foundation, Inc. Mr. Smith was also a managing director in partnering with Spirit Architecture Group L.L.C. to create the innovative design build firm SouthBuild TEAM L.L.C. The family cordially invites friends and relatives to gather and share remembrances of Mr. Smith from eleven o'clock in the morning to one o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday the 26th of July at First Evangelical Church, 735 Ridge Lake Blvd in Memphis. Immediately following, the funeral will be conducted by Doctor Cole Huffman. The Rite of Committal is to follow privately at Bethel Cemetery in Atoka. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Cook in Troy. Rev. L.R. Niell, Rev. Weaver, and Rev. R.E. White officiated. Active pallbearers were W.E. Morris, Lee Brown, John Cude, John Buchanan, J.C. King and John Dunbar. Honorary pallbearers were E.A. McAdoo, Birt Bumpas, Ed Wells, Hall Crittendon, Stanley Roberts, and Albert Green. Hinkle) and sister Gertie Puryear (later married to Clint Simpson) went to live with different family members. Rosa Lee Puryear was taken in by her aunt Joannah H. (Parkinson) and William Julius McQuiston in the Salem community. She lived with them until she married James Everett McQuiston in 1904, roughly ten years. When they married, they did so in the home of William Julius McQuiston. At that time, Rosa Lee's aunt Joannah had passed away in 1903.
