  When Rosa Lee Puryear's mother passed away, she and her brother Oscar B. Puryear (later married to Minnie F. Hinkle) and sister Gertie Puryear (later married to Clint Simpson) went to live with different family members.  Rosa Lee Puryear was taken in by her aunt Joannah H. (Parkinson) and William Julius McQuiston in the Salem community.  She lived with them until she married James Everett McQuiston in 1904, roughly ten years.  When they married, they did so in the home of William Julius McQuiston.  At that time, Rosa Lee's aunt Joannah had passed away in 1903.  Rosa's sister, Gertie came to live with her and James Everett McQuiston once they were married.
