- Wed, Dec 20, 1944, obituary Troy Woman Passes Away, Services Held Today for Mrs. Katie Lancaster, TROY- Mrs. Katie McRee Lancaster, 75, died Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Vaden Wells, near Troy after several weeks illness. Mrs. Lancaster was born and reared in the Troy community and spent her entire life there. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wells and Mrs. D.Y. Dunbar of near Troy, on granddaughter, Mrs. Noel Snyder of Troy; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Cook of Troy and Mrs. Munn of Memphis; and one brother, G.B. McRee of Troy. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Cook in Troy. Rev. L.R. Niell, Rev. Weaver, and Rev. R.E. White officiated. Active pallbearers were W.E. Morris, Lee Brown, John Cude, John Buchanan, J.C. King and John Dunbar. Honorary pallbearers were E.A. McAdoo, Birt Bumpas, Ed Wells, Hall Crittendon, Stanley Roberts, and Albert Green. Burial was in Troy cemetery. White-Mahon was in charge of arrangements. [2]
