Text | Hello Tom: Great web site; thanks. So many families in the mid west and central Mississippi Valley had their origins in the Chester SC area. Your Mary Jamison was the grand-daughter of Robert Jamison Sr. who came over from N Ireland with William Martin on the Lord Dunluce in 1772. There were 5 ships as you know and they were all ARP. Robert Jamison’s daughter Rebecca married Archibald Boyd (my line). Archibald bought land fro Robert Jamison Sr. in 1801 and that is the earliest information about him available. Robert Jamison’s son Gardner Jamison (b 1774 d abt 1826) is your Mary’s father. Also your McQuiston line was prominent in Chester SC in the late 1700’s. The name was spelled several ways (I.e. McQuestion). The Hugh McQuiston in your line that married Mary Jamison was probably related to the David McQuestion who was on the Lord Dunluce with Robert Jamison Sr’s family. They were all ARP and many who were also Seceders left SC in the mid 1830’s. I have a lot of info on the ARP in this area. Thanks for sharing. Charles Boyd Atlanta | |
