Longtime Duncan resident MARY LUCILLE BOYD, 83, 1204 Harville, died Thursday, July 8, 1993, in a Duncan hospital.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery.
Miss Boyd was born July 17, 1909, in Eureka, Texas, to Andrew and Georgia Boyd. She came to Duncan with her parents in 1911 and called Duncan her home town since that year. She attended Plato School through the eighth grade and finished Duncan High School. She attended Central State College, where she received her bachelor of arts degree; she received her master's degree from Oklahoma University.
She taught school for 43 years, teaching in Little Beaver School west of Duncan, Central High School, Velma-Alma School and Cleveland School in Lawton. Miss Boyd was a life member of Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as Sunday School superintendent for a number of years.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Pauline Boyd of Duncan; a sister, Annetta Moore of Moran, Texas; and several nieces and nephews, including Paula Barnes and Craig Barnes, both of Duncan.
Bearers will be Paul Patterson, M.L. Rodgers, Kenneth Taliaferro, Sam Walker, John Franklin and L.C. Henderson.
