- FERN VERNICE ANDERSON entered peacefully into rest at home with her family. Born in Drumright, OK, Fern moved to CA in 1947, married Earl Anderson in 1948, and lived happily in Fremont for 60 years. She worked for Booth Cannery, Niles Rest Home and the Fremont Unified School District for 12 years before becoming a very devoted homemaker and caregiver for her grandchildren. Fern is predeceased by her mother, Viola Alexander, husband Earl Anderson, sister Lorene Burgess, and granddaughter Tracie Wood. She is survived by her sister, Alma Pollard, brother-in-law Ed Pollard, daughter Debbie Wood, son Steve Anderson, daughter-in-law Sherry Anderson, grandchildren Andrea Wood, Kyle Wood, Christopher Yates, Jennifer Yates, Michael Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, David Burrola, Krystle Aikala and Sheena Reardon, and great-grandson Tyler Yates, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Fern was an active member of New Hope Community Church and I.O.O.F. Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, volunteering at the Tri-City Homeless Coalition and numerous activities with her friends. She was a longtime Oakland A's fan and a great cribbage player. Fern will be greatly missed by her loved ones and forever appreciated as one of the most wonderful people to enter our lives.
