CHESTER - Margaret Black Boyd, 84, of 150 Center St., died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at Agape in Rock Hill.
Born on March 19, 1921, in Charlotte, N.C., she was the widow of R.F. Boyd and daughter of the late Hugh Grady Black and the late Nellie Jane (Batty) Black. She was a homemaker and member of Parkway Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She graduated from Berryhill High School in Charlotte.
Surviving are three sons, Grady "Pete" Boyd of Blacksburg, Robert Boyd of Augusta, Ga., and Jimmy Boyd of Chester; three daughters, Ellen Wilson, Terri Zion, both of Chester, and Gerri McDill of Florence; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Harvey Black of Weatherford, Okla., Tom Black of Hopkinsville, Ky., Charles Black of Fayetteville, N.C., and Clifford Black of Copperas Cove, Texas; and two sisters, Mittie Black and Frankie Beaty, both of Charlotte.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Weaver.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Parkway Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. R.B. Ashley. Burial will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.
