- The funeral for Mr. William Wallace "Buck" Boyd of 1820 Buck & Edna's Drive will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Matt Horne, the Rev. Dale Roddey and the Rev. Dr. Ed Melvin will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
-Mr. Boyd, 75, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at his residence.
-Born in Chester County on July 6, 1934, he was a son of the late Andrew W. and Josie Brooks Boyd. A graduate of Blackstock High School, Mr. Boyd retired as branch manager of Founders Credit Union after 26 years of service. As a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, he formerly served as an elder and with various other church activities. Mr. Boyd was past president of the Chester Rotary Club and the Chester County Chamber of Commerce and past master of the Blackstock Masonic Lodge No. 180. He was also a former member of the Chester County Zoning Committee and the Chester Airport Committee.
-Survivors include his wife, Edna Carter Boyd; two sons, Daniel Wallace Boyd and his wife, Joy, of Chester and David A. Boyd of York; a daughter, Debora B. Stroud and her husband, Dan, of Kershaw; five grandchildren, Jason Stroud, Paula McBrayer, Lori West and Matthew and Alexandria Boyd; three great-grandchildren, Blair and Knox McBrayer and Gabriel West; four brothers, Andrew Boyd Jr., George Boyd and Dennis Boyd, all of Blackstock, and Tommy Boyd of Fort Lawn; and a sister, Janie Swygart of Chester.
-The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 1660 Pleasant Grove Road, Chester.
