  Treasy moved from McNairy County, Tennessee with her family to Pope County, Arkansas about 1846 when she was about 12 years old. The family remained there until about 1851 when they moved to Tarrant County, Texas, and settled on 320 acres where Walnut Creek flowed into the Trinity River. Since Indians were still raiding that part of Texas, her father made sure his daughters could ride and shoot as well as any man. Her father had the property surveyed and paid taxes on it until it was taken away from them about 1862 by corrupt politicians who favored secession and slavery, while he did not. Treasy first married in 1855 in Ft Worth, Tarrant, Texas to Joseph S Shelley, who was a chain carrier when her father's land was surveyed. They had two children: -Margaret E (Shelley) Donnell 1858 – 1892 -George S Shelley 1861 – 1887 It was stated in verbal history that Joseph was killed while driving cattle to market in Missouri. After the family's land was taken away and her father failed in his appeal, the family moved to McDonald County, Missouri area. Treasy's second marriage was to William Calvin Dobbs in 1868 in McDonald County, Missouri. He was 15 years her junior and marriage ended in divorce about 1890. They had four children: -William Frank Dobbs 1869 – 1956 -Mary Jane (Dobbs) Briscoe 1872 – 1963 -Amos Marshall Dobbs 1874 – 1955 -Emma Della (Dobbs) Bradfield 1877 – 1904 Treasy participated in the land run when land opened up in the Lincoln County, Oklahoma Territory. She staked out a claim, as did her sons, William and Amos. She was said to be an excellent cook and smoked a pipe on occasion. [2]
