Deceased Name: Joanna Calvin Boyd
Joanna "Jody" Calvin Boyd, 72, of Sistersville, W.Va., died September 3, 2005, at home.
She was born January 11, 1933, in Columbia, Missouri, to the late Dea Bailey Calvin and Novella Vaughn Calvin. Jody was an artist and homemaker and owner of the Townhouse Gallery in Sistersville, W.Va. She was a member and past president of the WV Watercolor Society, member of the League of Women Voters of West Virginia, and a member of DAR and DRT. Jody traveled extensively with homes in Texas and West Virginia. She especially loved and shared homes on a farm in Next, W.Va., and a restored apartment in downtown Sistersville, W.Va. She was Episcopalian by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Austin Walker Boyd; three sons, Austin W. Boyd Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., Tim M. Boyd of San Francisco, Calif., and Laxon T. Boyd of Milwaukee, Wis.; one daughter, Dr. Carolyn E. Boyd of Comstock, Texas; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Dea Bailey Calvin Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; and one sister, Carolyn C. Marble of Lincoln, Texas.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church, Sistersville, W.Va.
Memorials may be made to the Shumla School, 110 Alpine St., P.O. Box 627, Comstock, TX, USA 78837. The Shumla School is located in West Texas with its ancient cultural richness. There will be a bungalow built to house students as a memorial to Jody.
