GOREVILLE, Ill. -- Gene Futch, 69, formerly of East Prairie, Mo., died at 12:58 a.m. April 29, 2005, at Marion Heartland Hospital in Marion.
Born Aug. 22, 1935, in Dorena, Mo., to the late Wayne and Pauline Hunt Futch, he was a superintendent for the Madison County Special Area Service No. 1 and was trustee for the Mitchell Fire Department for 10 years in Mitchell, where he lived for 30 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM 835 in Granite City and was a master mason and Shriner. He was a board member of Eagle Point Bay Area on Lake Egypt for six years near Goreville, where he has lived for the past 10 years.
On July 30, 1955, in Biloxi, Miss., he married Bettie Sue Glass who survives of the home.
Other survivors include; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Margaret Futch of Paducah, Ky., Ed Futch of Mitchell and Kenneth and Karen Futch of Rome, Ga.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and John Oertell of Clarksville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One brother, J.R. Futch, preceded him in death.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday. Clay King will officiate.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
