  Commercial Appeal, The (Memphis, TN, USA) - May 21, 1997 Deceased Name: JOHN WILLIAM 'BILLY' SIMONTON JOHN WILLIAM 'BILLY' SIMONTON, 78, of Brighton, Tenn., retired postmaster, died of heart failure Tuesday at Covington Care Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home in Covington, Tenn., with burial in Morrison Cemetery in Brighton. He was a World War II Army combat engineer. He was a member and former deacon of Brighton Baptist Church. Mr. Simonton, the husband of Elizabeth Jane Tanner Simonton, also leaves a daughter, Jane Carol Simonton Durham of Burke, Va.; a son, William Neal Simonton of Brighton; two sisters, Mary Simonton of Ruston, La., and Frances Simonton Moore of Brighton; a brother, Milton Simonton of Brighton, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Brighton Baptist Church.
