Dr. Billie Shelton McCullough Jr. of Covington died at Covington Care. Dr. McCullough, 74, was a general surgeon in private practice. He was a member of the Fellow American College of Surgeons, the Tennessee Medical Association and First Presbyterian Church.
He was a former chief of surgery and chief of staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton and the director of medical care for Covington Care Nursing Home and Covington Manor Nursing Home. He also served as past president for the Covington Rotary Club and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Services were April 12 at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with Rev. Mat Taylor officiating. Burial was in R. H. Munford Cemetery in Covington.
Survivors include his spouse, Gail Oliver McCullough; a son, William Shelton McCullough of San Francisco, Calif.; three daughters, Elizabeth Abdul-Ramon of Memphis, Amy Jungwirth of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeanne Lewis of Arlington, Va.; and six grandchildren. [1]

Covington - DR. BILLIE SHELTON McCULLOUGH, JR., 74, private practice and general surgeon, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at Covington Care Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home Chapel with burial in R.H. Munford Cemetery. He was a member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church, a member of Fellow American College of Surgeons and Tennessee Medical Association, past president of Covington Rotary Club, Chief of Surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton and Tipton County Memorial Hospital, Chief of Staff for Tipton County Memorial Hospital, director of Medical Care for Covington Care Nursing Home and Covington Manor Nursing Home, sponsored two people for the Paul Harris Fellowship for Covington Rotary Club and a Boy Scout leader. Mr. McCullough, the husband of Gail Oliver Smith, also leaves three daughters, Elizabeth Abdul-Ramon of Memphis, Amy Jungwirth of Phoenix, AZ, USA, and Jeanne Lewis of Arlington, VA, USA; a son, William Shelton McCullough of San Francisco, CA, USA, and six grandchildren.
