- BONDS, William Louis Bonds, William (Billy) Louis was born on September 2, 1950 in Dallas, Texas and passed away February 17, 2016 in Groesbeck, Texas. Preceded in death by Grandparents- Louis and Bernice Nelms and William R. and Winfred Bonds. Survived by parents, William A. and Patty Bonds, and brother and wife- Bobby and Jean Bonds. Billy graduated in 1968 from Woodrow Wilson High School where he was known for his brilliant smile, sense of adventure and being a great dancer. He joined the US Marine Corp in 1969 serving 2 years in Vietnam. He received decorations/ commendations including the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat Valor, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Metal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. After returning from Vietnam, he attended Baylor University where he was on the cross country team. He lived in the Waco are for over 40 years. He courageously battled life- long illness resulting from injuries sustained while serving in Vietnam. The family wishes to thank Connie Hampton and Melanie Anderson and their family for many years of devoted care and love. The Service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home in the Wildwood Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WoundedWarriorProject.Org, Woodrow Wilson High School Booster Club or a charity of your choice. [1]
