- Dorothy Laverne Walker, 89, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dorothy was born June 12, 1924, in Amarillo to Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Walker. She graduated from Amarillo High School and Amarillo College. For 50 years, Dorothy worked with the youth and international students at First Baptist Church, leading many of them to Christ.
When World War II broke out, she and her father went to work at Pantex and worked until the war ended. She went to work at Russell Stationary and later worked for Whitney Printing Co. and went back to Pantex and worked in the purchasing office.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Grady Lee Walker and James Samuel Walker; a sister, Ruby Lois Walker Ridenour; and a nephew, James Leonard Walker.
Survivors include a wonderful brother-in-law, Robert Ridenour; two nieces; a great-nephew; a great-niece; and a precious friend, Mrs. Winnie Moore. [4]
