Deceased Name: Elizabeth Peden Lindsay
DURHAM -- Elizabeth Peden Lindsay, 75, a resident of Carol Woods in Chapel Hill died Monday, January 6, 2003.
Mrs. Lindsay was the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Peden of Canton, NC, USA who predeceased her.
She attended St. Mary's High School and Salem College where she further developed her love for music. After her marriage to the late Dr. Robert Boyd Lindsay, Chapel Hill became their home where for over 55 years she has remained vitally involved in her church and community. She served as Senior Warden of the Chapel of the Cross. For many years, she taught private piano lessons in her home.
She is survived by her son, Scott Lindsay and his wife, Scottie of Charlotte; three grandchildren, David Lindsay and his wife, Emily of Clinton, SC, USA, Sarah Balsley and her husband, Ben of Atlanta GA, and Lee Lindsay, a student in Raleigh; two brothers, Fred Peden of Columbia SC, Jim Peden of Hickory. Also among those much beloved by her and now left to carry on her special spirit include five nieces, and a nephew, her former piano students and 14 godchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at The Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill on Thursday, January 9, at 2:00 in the afternoon.
The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall after the service.
Memorial may be sent to The Chapel of the Cross or to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are with Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
