- Sue Ford, 54, of Harlan, passed from this life Friday, April 8, 2011 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born in Flint, Michigan and had lived in Harlan since the late 1970’s. Sue was a co-founder of the Harlan County Christian School, as well as being active with Harlan County Literacy and the First Book project, among many others.
She was a member of the Putney Bible Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and participating in other church related activities.
Sue was preceded in death by her father, Ray Thomas.
Survivors include her mother, Joyce Thomas; her husband of 25 years, Mark L. Ford; her son, Darian White, wife Vicky and grandson, Donovan; her son, T.R. Ford; her son, Caleb Ford; her brother, Ken Thomas, wife Melissa and nieces April and Mandy and family; her brother, Bob Thomas, and wife Sherry; her brother, Rick Thomas and fiance’ Bobbie Alpin, nephews Matthew and Jake; her sister, Beth Ann Howard, husband Clay, nephew Robbie and family, and grandson Alex; a very special cousin, Cathy Clem and family; a very special aunt, Faye Belcher; as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
The family of Sue Ford will receive visitors from 5 – 9 p.m. Tuesday at Harlan Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harlan Funeral Home with Pastor Clay Groves officiating.
Interment services will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions for Sue are suggested to the Harlan County Christian School, P.O. Box 45, Putney, KY, USA 40865. [2]
